In the sleepy little town of Marktredwitz you can find a lot of things, but certainly no alligators. That's what we thought until now, but now we've been proven wrong. A gator was spotted and it has something delicious in its luggage.
Don't worry, we haven't gone crazy. We're not talking about real crocodiles creeping through the Fichtel Mountains, but about the Marktredwitz brewery Bavarian Gator. The newest addition to Franconian culture of enjoyment is a Bavarian-American joint project for which an unconventional team has come together. A brewer with a great enthusiasm for the natural sciences comes from the Technical University of Munich in Weihenstephan, and a pharmacist from Gainesville in the United States who loves to drink beer joins them. With the concentrated power of enjoyment and science, practice and theory, craftsmanship and natural science, the two have been creating fantastic beers since 2019. The aim of their efforts is to brew a beer for all unconventional people. A beer for adventurers, connoisseurs, for the spontaneous, reckless and daring.
The brewer and the pharmacist combine the best of two worlds: Bavarian craftsmanship meets American innovation, tradition meets the spirit of discovery. Germany looks back on a brewing history that goes back thousands of years, while America is the cradle of the craft beer movement and a mecca for wild, unconventional brewers with vision. What a happy combination!

With enthusiasm, joy and a great desire to experiment, the American-Bavarian duo creates great beers that taste of joie de vivre, fresh possibilities and adventure. And even though Marktredwitz strictly adheres to the Bavarian Purity Law, there is still a lot of exceptional taste in the bottles. One of our favorites is Bayou : The pale ale is named after the swamps of the southern states and has the strong character of southern Germany. A perfect combination that turns every summer day into a summer party!
