Frank Boon, founder of Brouwerij Boon, is a legend. His excellent Lambic is not only a talking point in Belgium, but also delights the entire (craft) beer scene. Exceptional Belgian beers are his specialty and the reason why we are so happy to have Boon in our range.
Frank's Beer Mission
Frank Boon not only brews excellent beer, he also works to protect and promote Lambic beers. This Belgian beer style is a protected designation and is subject to strict regulations. As a board member of the Belgian Brewers' Association and initiator of the annual beer festival "Belgian Beer Weekend", Frank lives his passion for beer and is committed to establishing beer as a cultural asset worthy of protection. The latter also led him to counteract the beer crisis of the 1980s and to brew good Lambic and tasty Geuze again. At that time, the Belgian market was flooded with bad, low-quality beers, which resulted in the slow extinction of Belgian beer styles. Frank jumped to the rescue like a knight in golden armor and campaigned for a renaissance of traditional Belgian beer styles. Today, the characteristic beers from Belgium are an indispensable part of the beer world.

Kriek – A beer with a special ingredient
Boon's absolute favourite is Kriek Boon , a beer that is spontaneously fermented and made from a mixture of old and young lambic beers. After the brewing process, the beer matures in old oak barrels, where it gains its incomparable flavour. A special highlight are the cherries that are traditionally added to the beer. Half a pound of cherries, specially imported from Galicia, goes into the kettle for each litre. The region between Ukraine and Poland is known for its delicious cherries. In addition to cherries from abroad, Boon also grows its own cherries. This ensures that only the best, most flavourful cherries go into the beer. And it's worth it! Kriek Boon is a real flavour bomb with the wonderfully fresh aroma of juicy sour cherries. But Oude Geuze is also a Belgian classic that deserves fame and honour. Here, too, young and old beer are married to create the unique taste.
