This very special little brewery was born out of a passion for drinking good beer. BroBier is a so-called gypsy or cuckoo brewery. This special term is used for breweries that do not have their own brewing facilities. Instead of buying their own equipment, cuckoo brewers nest in existing breweries and brew their beer there. This collaboration is a symbiosis of mutual benefit, because the gypsys can keep their start-up budget as small as possible and the long-established brewery is supported by a higher utilization of their facilities. BroBier are the friends Andreas Eckschmidt and Johannes Lurz, who have used this method to push their home brewery from a hobby to a professional business.
Anyone who likes to drink beer should know about it. This was more or less the basic idea of the brewers and founders of BroBier. Andreas and Johannes worked their way into the subject with the help of countless books until they were ready to start their very first brewing attempt. They made their first brew in a mulled wine kettle and were rewarded with a solid amber. On the basis of this good experience, they experimented, tried and improved from then on. The guys definitely didn't want to just rebrew something, they wanted to do their own thing from the start and brew their beer using new recipes. This ambition gave rise to a thick folder with their own recipes and demand from friends and acquaintances, which they soon could no longer meet. But even upgrading their equipment was not enough. In 2017, the brewers at BroBier therefore switched to a professional brewery for the first time and brewed their increasingly popular beer there from then on.
BroBier's range is not huge, as is typical of the brewing style, but it is correspondingly exclusive. The guys attach great importance to regionality and, where possible, select ingredients that come from the Franconian region. However, in order not to be more Catholic than the Pope, they do not restrict themselves exclusively to regional products: if an American hop surpasses the one from the Altmühltal in terms of taste, then the American goes into the kettle, whether it is Franconian or not. BroBier's popular beers are created in individual interpretations of classic brewing styles, such as the Freiraum Ale , a composition of five different types of hops, or the Helle Rauschbock , an amber-colored bock that keeps its promise.
