The path between a dream and its realization is sometimes longer than you think. At least that was the case for Craig and Jason, the founders of Big Shed Brewing Concern from Australia.

patience is a virtue

The two passionate beer fans got off to a really good start: They rented a large barn and equipped it with everything you need for brewing. Kettles, brew kettles, mash paddles and ingredients were ready and the fun could begin. The two enthusiastic homebrewers embarked on their very own adventure and experimented with raw materials, temperatures, recipes and flavor combinations. During their wild phase of experimentation, excellent beers were created and others that would have been better never having seen the light of day. Family and friends acted as guinea pigs and enjoyed the first really successful beers to the fullest. Motivated by their initial successes, Craig and Jason decided to make their venture official. Due to the location of their business, the name Big Shed Brewing Company was quickly found and was able to prevail over other ideas. The team obtained a license to brew and then nothing more happened. Although the two brewed diligently, they did not take any further steps towards opening their own brewery. At some point, the friends realized that although they were brewing a lot of beer, most people didn't know about it. Their dream was still waiting to be realized.

From dream to brewery in a decade

Craig and Jason didn't really get down to business until eleven years after renting the barn. In their decade as brewers, the duo had gained a lot of experience, and they received the professional polish from Adelaide brewing legend Stephen Nelson. With his expert help, they turned their brewing hobby into a brand. They moved to new premises and gave their beers a new, uniform look. The last step was to put together a range, and in 2013 they finally started with FrankenBROWN, an American brown ale with soul and a whole lot of flavorful malts. From then on, everything went like clockwork: just a year later, the now successful brewers opened their first own tasting bar, where you can sample beer specialties and matching food. With their story, Jason and Craig prove that you should stick with good things and that courage and bold action pay off in the end.
