Einstök

The purest water in the world is the unique selling point of Einstök beer. Just a hundred kilometers from the Arctic Circle, the brewery is located in the harsh regions of Akureyri in Iceland. If you think you'll only find lame sheep among the green hills, the merciless rocks of the fjords and the hot springs, you're very wrong. There are also top-quality beers here!

The purest water in the world

Iceland's wild, unpolished nature is as varied and surprising as almost anywhere else. Magical northern lights, desolate volcanoes, endless expanses of soft green moss carpets, rugged cliffs and spectacular geysers are just a few of the forces of nature that can be seen in Iceland. The harsh climate of the island state is home to an astonishing fauna and flora, which, thanks to its proximity to the Arctic Circle, also includes glaciers and icebergs. The meltwater from a prehistoric glacier, which flows through lava rock together with rainwater and is naturally filtered there, is the water that the brewery proudly describes as the purest in the world. This wonderful water is the foundation for the excellent Einstök beer and a feature that makes the Icelandic hop drink something very special.

From zero to one hundred

Even if the water is the best in the world, you still need a few more ingredients to make a good beer. Brewers use regional raw materials wherever possible in the brewing process. Unfortunately, more unusual types of hops such as aroma hops do not grow in Iceland's harsh climate; they have to be imported. The hand-picked ingredients are then used with passion and craftsmanship to make excellent (craft) beer. The diverse product range includes a pale ale and a white ale . In 2010 there were just a handful of breweries in Iceland, but the number has since risen significantly. Iceland's lack of beer tradition has created a nation of beer lovers who like to experiment. In contrast to Germany, where there is a centuries-old brewing tradition almost everywhere, people here are open-minded and are not restricted by the Purity Law. In their quest to brew the best possible beer, Icelanders have already won numerous awards. They have taken the beer market by storm and are now indispensable thanks to their sophisticated creations such as Einstöks Toasted Porter .
