What do the hippies of Goa like to drink the most? If you're thinking of kombucha, you're probably right, but Kingfisher beer is also very popular with the dancing mob. And not just at the infamous Psy Trans parties on the wild coast of India, but far beyond the borders of the country and the continent.

India's bird of paradise

The brewery, which has the shimmering kingfisher in its emblem, was founded in 1915 together with five other breweries as part of the United Breweries association. Kingfisher beer was already being exported to the Middle East in 1974, and from 1982 to the USA and Great Britain. The brewery can look back on an eventful history with numerous takeovers and mergers. However, the turbulent times have mainly taken place in the ranks of management. The fine beer and the recipes were largely untouched by these changes. Despite all the changes in management, Kingfisher brews crowd favorites such as the premium lager or their sparkling shandy. And the kingfisher watches over everything with its bright blue wings.

The Good Times

Kingfisher doesn't just market beer, it markets a whole attitude to life. The brewery doesn't just supply us with good beer, it also sponsors festivals and sporting events. Kingfisher's Sunburn Festival, for example, is one of the biggest festivals in Asia with electronic beats and an impressive lineup. In addition to dance events, Kingfisher also supports sports clubs: cricket teams, Formula 1 drivers, jockeys, mountain climbers and footballers are among the lucky ones that Kingfisher sponsors. Kingfisher also wants to convey a feeling with its beer: freedom, summer, exuberance and community resonate in the brewery's colorful advertising campaigns. Everyone who treats themselves to a Kingfisher should also feel the Kingfisher feeling.

Whether that's the case when you pop the bottle caps in rainy Germany is another matter. But it's definitely worth a try!
