Stuttgart can do a lot, but for a long time beer was not one of them. The city in Baden-Württemberg is located in the middle of a vast wine region and has a whole range of fine varieties that go perfectly with Baden cuisine. Due to the abundance of wine, the beer scene remained underdeveloped for quite a long time and even the national drink of Württemberg was not barley juice, but a fine tipple made from the Trollinger grape variety. Today, things are very different and Kraftpaule has contributed significantly to this.
It all began with a group of ten beer-hungry friends who set out to discover good beer. Because the beer tradition in their homeland was slowly dying out in the last century, the friends had to travel to Bavaria and Upper Swabia to try a larger selection of beers. The gang traveled through the country and drank their way through an impressive variety of beers. On their trip they discovered that they liked the beer from small, private breweries the best. They instinctively sought out craft breweries, even if they didn't have that name at the time. It was only when the term came over from the USA that they were able to define their passion: craft beer had cast its spell over them and wouldn't let go. It was just a shame that the friends couldn't get beer of this kind back home in Stuttgart. Out of spite, the gang launched the "First Stuttgart Craft Beer Festival". There was no planning beforehand, but the amazing response forced the group to put their words into action. Today the child has a name: Kraftpaule. The beer-mad company runs a bar, a shop, organizes the annual beer festival, has a taproom and brews a selection of tasty beers.
The head of the beer empire is Thorsten Schwämmle, a real all-round talent. The trained cameraman has put on a few shoes in the course of his life and is not only an enthusiastic hophead, but also a musician and founder of Kraftpaule. Events are held under this label and curious people can book tastings, brewing courses and beer hikes. Thorsten's heart beats for beer, you can feel that in everything he does. Because at some point it was no longer enough for him to serve other brewers' beer, he decided to make his own. Together with the team from Camba Bavaria, he created the first brew and was hooked. Numerous others followed and today the Kraftpaule range consists of a whole series of fine craft beers that reflect the passion and heart and soul of Thorsten and his staff.
