What are two Americans doing in Nuremberg? Brewing beer! Mark Zunkel and Luke Kennedy had to travel all the way from America to Germany before their paths crossed. The two had come to Germany for very different reasons and found each other in Nuremberg through their shared love of beer. A fateful encounter that gave rise to the microbrewery New Beer Generation, or NBG for short.

It's obvious to Mark and Luke why they chose Nuremberg. They love German beer! Nuremberg is certainly not an easy place for them to live, but that doesn't bother them. Even in the area with the highest concentration of breweries, the two Americans stand out with their beers. With a lot of sensitivity, they give the sometimes dusty classics of the German beer landscape a certain American twist - especially by using many times more hops than German brewers do. Hops are not just Luke's area of expertise, as he works for a hop dealer; Mark, a native American and a fan of American beer, is also familiar with the hop scene.

In order to save costs and to be able to implement their plan to make their own beer straight away, Mark and Luke are gypsy brewers. The two brew their fine beer not far from Nuremberg in the Bamberg area and even though there was initially a lot of surprise at the huge amounts of hops that the two Americans threw into the vats, the guys quickly became friends with their hosts. The advantage of traveling brewing is not only for the gypsies, the breweries that make their equipment available also benefit as they have no empty spaces. The great beer that the New Beer Generation brews using the traveling method is now sold far beyond the borders of Nuremberg. Their craft beer specialties such as the classic India Pale Ale , the fancy Crazy Lazy Hazy or the hoppy Valley of the Hop can also be sampled in the guys' taproom. With Mr. Kennedy, Mark and Luke have realized their second dream alongside their own brewery. You can drink their own and a variety of other craft beers in a cozy living room atmosphere. If you're lucky, you'll even get your beer poured by the brewer himself.
