The world's oceans are a huge source of resources. Every day, tons of fish and other sea creatures are caught to satisfy our hunger. We take water, algae and mussels from the blue expanse and seek them out when we need peace, a clear head or to cool down. We bathe, swim and snorkel in them, ride their waves, dive into their unfathomable depths and let them carry us. We love the water and yet the waters of this earth are in a precarious situation. Three friends from Madrid have also come to this realization and have decided to no longer stand idly by and watch this tragedy.
While surfing together, the boys noticed that the amount of garbage in the water and on the beaches of their homeland was increasing rapidly. More and more garbage was washing up and finding its way to the coasts. To rid beaches of pollution, the three brewed an India Pale Ale and used the proceeds to organize clean-up campaigns. This venture went so well that in 2020 they founded the Ocean Beer label and were able to expand their campaigns throughout Spain and the world. With ethical and sustainable aspects in mind, the friends now brew a small but fine selection of beers and use all of their profits to support projects and campaigns for the benefit of the world's oceans. The good causes that the brewery supports include projects to reduce black carbon in the Arctic, a foundation that works to preserve and sustainably use seaweed, dolphin rescues and all sorts of other institutions.
In order to have as little negative impact on the environment as possible with its own company, the brewery has come up with a sophisticated concept for the sustainable use of resources. The use of plastic and environmentally harmful paints and inks for bottle design has been reduced to a minimum or completely, all raw materials are of natural origin and the carbon footprint is reduced every day and offset at the end of each year. The brewery has a deposit system and a circular economy that produces hardly any waste. Fernando Escribano is responsible for the beers: the experienced brewmaster shares a passion for the sea and does his best every day to brew delicious drinks for the benefit of the oceans. In a three-year process, Fernando has developed recipes that combine excellent raw materials with craftsmanship and a good cause. The brewery has already achieved a lot together with its fans and you too can be part of this good cause. All you have to do is treat yourself to a cold beer!
