Erding is known for two things: the largest thermal spa in the world and one of the most famous wheat beers of all. Although the small town is otherwise not a place of superlatives, it is home to two world-famous institutions. With its countless saunas, swimming pools and slides, the Erding thermal spa attracts almost two million visitors a year. If you want to enjoy the fine Erdinger wheat beer, you don't have to go there especially. The traditional brewery now exports its beer to 106 countries around the world and we also have some of its bottles in stock.
The first brewery at the current location was founded in 1886. The Weisse Bräuhaus supplied the people of Erding with the finest wheat beer. The brewery fell into the hands of the Brombach family in 1935, when it was offered for sale to the then managing director Franz Brombach. The enterprising gentleman seized his opportunity and gave the brewery the name ERDINGER Weißbräu. Thanks to the hard work of Franz and his team, annual output grew to 40,000. His son Werner joined the flourishing company in 1965 and brought with him a great vision: he wanted to make the good Erdinger Weißbier known throughout Germany. With an advertising jingle that quickly became an absolute earworm for decades to come and the new name ERDINGER Weißbier, Werner's plan quickly gained momentum. Austria became the first country to which the good wheat was exported, and dozens more followed. By now, the historic brewery in Erding's old town was bursting at the seams. In order to meet the ever-growing demand, the brewery was expanded to include a new brewhouse and other structural changes. The visitor center has been welcoming interested visitors since 2000.
The private brewery is still run by Werner Brombach and brews the finest wheat beer with passion and dedication. The Brombach family is just as passionate about its Bavarian roots as it is about producing high-quality, outstanding beer with character and taste. As an ambassador for Bavarian brewing, Erdinger wheat beer now stands for the joy of life and enjoyment of its homeland in more than 100 countries. Together with two other Bavarian family breweries, Erdinger has launched the Bavarian Edelreifung (Bavarian fine maturation): This promise of quality guarantees a second fermentation, which further deepens the wonderful taste and makes the beer a real treat. When the brewery added a non-alcoholic version to its core range, it also positioned itself in the world of sport. Its isotonic beer became the first choice for athletes of all kinds and laid the foundation for an extensive sponsorship program.
