Reckendorfer

Reckendorf near Baunach is one of the oldest villages in the region. The settlement was first mentioned in documents in 855 and the village has been living, thriving and growing ever since. In addition to the parish church of St. Nicholas, the estate of the Lords of Schöffstall was also a sight to see. The moated castle had a turbulent history and was completely destroyed several times in the course of its history. The manor house was repeatedly rebuilt until the 19th century, but then those responsible ran out of steam and the building was demolished. All that remained was the castle brewery and its inn.

A castle brewery without a castle

After brewing had been dormant for a long time, Georg Dirauf, a native of Reckendorf, plucked up the courage in 1930 and brought life back into the hallowed halls. Under his leadership, the initially unprofitable company developed into a flourishing country brewery, which soon supplied far more than just Reckendorf with fine beer. During his lifetime, the company expanded and modernized so that his daughter Lonia could take over a fully functional brewery with the latest technology. She continued her father's success and finally handed the reins over to her son Dominik. The master brewer and qualified engineer is still at the helm of the Reckendorf Castle Brewery today. Under his regime, output was increased at the end of the 1980s. At the same time, an environmental concept was developed and measures to stabilize product quality were introduced. Thanks to the latest technology and a lot of passion, the brewery can now offer a diverse range of the finest beer specialties.

Regional, seasonal, optimal!

Like many breweries, the team at the Schlossbrauerei is committed to adhering to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516. Local spring water is used for brewing, the hops come from Spalt and Hallertau, and the grain is grown by Franconian farmers and dried in a malt house in Bamberg. Even the yeast comes from the brewery's own cultivation. With plenty of time, patience, craftsmanship and tried and tested recipes, the brewers then process these exquisite raw materials into beer. The Reckendorfer brewery's range consists of characterful specialties brewed in the Franconian style and includes traditional classics such as the good Keller beer as well as seasonal delicacies such as the Henrici Bock . The team is particularly proud of the awards they have won with their beer creations. Year after year, the brewers compete internationally with their beers and are successfully rewarded for their work. The greater reward, however, is the satisfied customers who drink the fine Reckendorfer beer every day with pleasure and enjoyment.
