Wolfgang Scherer is a beekeeper. However, his honey doesn’t just end up on bread, in salad dressing or in cakes. The self-proclaimed brewing beekeeper works with a brewery that uses the honey in its creations. What Wolfgang and his bees create with painstaking, detailed work goes straight to Ale-Mania’s brewhouse after being spun: the fine honey is transported from one corner of Bonn to the other in Wolfgang’s lovingly decorated Lada and then made into a wonderful honey by skilled hands Ale processed further.
The fruit of this unusual collaboration is an ale that is based on classic wheat beer. The brew contains barley and wheat malt, the aromatic hops Saphir and Perle, spicy yeast and the handmade honey from Wolfgang and his team of busy bees. The brew brings a good 5.0% alcohol content to the table and presents itself in a bright honey gold in the glass. A honey-sweet scent rises from the dense, creamy head of foam, which mixes with light grain and fresh hops on the nose. The initial drink follows on from the foot and harmoniously continues the fabulous first impression: soft honey notes combine with floral hints, sunny malt, yeast dough, fruity orange peel and grassy hops to create a harmonious beer enjoyment.
