In contrast to the feared Great White Shark, its coffee-brown equivalent is far less dangerous: The Black Shark was created by the brewers at Camba Bavaria and spreads pleasant enjoyment rather than fear and terror. The so-called Imperial Black IPA is a fairly young subcategory of India Pale Ale and combines the typical fruity juiciness of the style with the full-bodiedness of dark beers. Camba’s interpretation is brewed with American ale yeast and Centennial, Hercules and Chinook hops. Pilsner, caramel and roasted malts were used as balancing factors. The grain not only has a positive influence on the aroma, the wonderfully deep mahogany tone is also thanks to the kilned grain.
The award-winning beer flows into the glass in an opaque ebony tone and is crowned with a luxurious amount of creamy, hazelnut-brown foam. An olfactory symphony of roasted aromas, coffee notes and fruity hints of blackberries and rhubarb fills the air and tempts you to drink. This offers the palate an explosion of roasted coffee beans, delicately melting chocolate, crispy stone-oven bread, fresh hops and juicy fruit. The whopping 8.5% alcohol content is hidden in the diverse flavor layers, while the 100 bitter units are clearly noticeable and represent a fabulous contrast to the velvety sweetness.
The delicacy has already been awarded gold several times and should definitely be part of your repertoire.
