The Knoblach brewery in Schammelsdorf is known in Franconia not only for its excellent beers, but also for the Schammelsdorf Beer Days. This is where the traditional brewery serves its delicious beer year after year. Beer has been brewed at Knoblach since 1880 and the brewery and restaurant are still in family hands today. Classics like their Stammberg Bock are brewed here in strict compliance with the Bavarian Purity Law and with regional ingredients. The light beer has a strong 7.2% alcohol content and impresses with its elegant style.
The Stammberg Bock flows into the glass in a clear gold tone and forms a head of foam. The white foam exudes a balanced mix of malt and hops. On the nose, freshly baked bread and soft caramel meet freshly mown grass and a hint of citrus peel. When drunk, the light bock delights with a crisp, clean body and a moderate sweetness. The beer has a full-bodied body and initially presents a nice malt palette. Velvety caramel and a delicious honey note hit the tongue before hops arrive with grassy and herbal aromas. The taste of fresh orange peel and apricot joins in. The Stammberg Bock is a well-balanced masterpiece of hoppy and malty quality. It delights right through to the finish and has a hoppy finish that evokes associations of white pepper.
