Light or dark, that is the question!
Today, most beers are light. They flow into the glass in a variety of shades of gold and amber and are adorned with foam crowns, the color palette of which extends from pure blossom white to ivory and fine beige. Even the more outlandish beer styles of the craft beer movement often fall into the light category. In most cases, however, their body is not shiny and crystal clear. Rather slightly cloudy to milky. However, the mother of all light beers is not an IPA or fruit beer but the classic light beer. This type of full beer is particularly popular in Franconia and should not be missing from any range.
The private brewery Günther from Burgkunstadt offers a traditional light beer that is wonderfully drinkable and Franconian.
The Günther’sche Helle presents itself in a crystal-clear pale gold in the glass. The sparkling carbonic acid feeds an airy crown of snow-white foam and transports a fine fragrance to the surface. The olfactory first impression of light malt, bread, lemony hops, herbs and fine vanilla continues in the initial taste. Gently roasted malt ensnares the palate with mild tartness, caramel and notes of freshly baked bread, the hops bring hints of woody herbs and tangy lemon zest. A moderate bitterness completes the play of aromas.
Water, barley malt, hops, yeast
