Punk is a movement that is primarily attributed to young people in the 1970s. A subculture developed in various places around the world that was closely linked to the punk rock music genre and was characterized by provocative clothing and a rebellion against convention and bourgeois attitudes. Punks could be recognized at first glance by their often brightly colored, raised hair, their studded leather jackets and their combat boots. The youth culture rebelled against the consumer-driven society, against the law, against order, decency and laws and idealized anarchy. There are still a few punks today, but the numbers have drastically decreased.
However, there is still a touch of punk in many creative people. The team at BrewDog sometimes feels the rebellion pulsing in their veins and lives out this inner rebellion in the form of their Punk IPA. This cheeky beer sets its own standards in terms of taste and packs a punch with a whopping six hop varieties. Amarillo, Athanum, Cascade, Chinook, Nelson Sauvin and Simcoe form an exuberantly fruity overall picture that is powerfully balanced by a crisp 35 bitter units.
BrewDog’s Punk IPA is the right beer for everyone who would prefer to go to the office with a mohawk, studded collar and Dr. Martens. A quiet and extremely drinkable revolution!
