The best stout is in Ireland. At least that’s what Dublin’s long-established breweries claim. The classic beer style is their pride and joy and has a long tradition in their city. But now a cheeky newcomer is entering the stage and challenging the reign of the Irish stout: the BrewDog brewery wants to dethrone the beer from Ireland with a powerful competitor. Her Black Heart attracts attention with its deep mahogany color, creamy hazelnut foam and complex character.
Using state-of-the-art brewing technology and contemporary raw materials, the brewery wants to catapult the classic into the 21st century. A select selection of chocolate and strongly roasted crystal malts gives the beer its complexity and its grippy, velvety-soft texture.
Black Heart flows into the glass in dark coffee brown and is crowned with a cap of dense, solid ivory foam. A luxurious bouquet of freshly roasted coffee beans, cocoa nibs and toffee fills the air and tempts you to drink. The taste test reveals a full-bodied body that brings melting chocolate, warm cocoa, bittersweet espresso and silky caramel to the tongue. The surprisingly mild 4.1% alcohol content is cleverly integrated into the aromatics.
Guinness and Co. can wrap themselves up warm, here comes a slim stout that rivals them with its intense aroma!
