Poorter – Smooth, bold and uncompromisingly Dutch.

When it comes to great achievements of humanity, it is often not entirely clear who exactly invented them. A brilliant idea and numerous thinkers registering intellectual property. A similar thing happened with the Porter. They actually say that the beer style comes from England, but the Dutch think they know that the dark, strong beer was drunk in Holland hundreds of years before. We cannot say with certainty whether it was the hard-working dockers of Amsterdam or the creative brewers of London who developed the porter. However, this unique porter with licorice root and vanilla tastes wonderful. A real treat for Brits, Dutch and everyone else, that's for sure.

Since Lowlander's porter refers to the "poorters", the dock workers, that's what it's called. It also contains some of the goods that the dock workers unloaded every day from the long-traveled ships and carried them to the city's warehouses. Exotic goods were weighed and stored in the beautiful brick buildings of Holland's ports. And even though hardly any goods are stored there these days, when you walk between the canals you sometimes think that you can still smell the scent of spices from distant lands.

The Poorter from Lowlander smells like the licorice that is so popular in the Netherlands. The dark brown beer with mahogany-colored foam tastes wonderfully full-bodied of roasted malt, vanilla, coffee, chocolate and licorice. The aromatic initial drink leads to a crisp, bitter finish. This Dutch interpretation of a porter is extremely successful and a real treat for the palate!
