Every year at the time of the hop harvest, a very special ritual takes place in the Yakima Valley. The large hop grower Yakima Chief Hops invites a number of selected brewers from all over the world to personally and locally select their hop varieties for the coming brewing year. This spectacle is called the Yakima Chief Hops Hop Selection and the seats are in high demand. No wonder, after all, the invited brewery teams are allowed to travel to the Yakima Valley, exchange ideas with the people who have helped the hops grow and thrive day after day, walk through the hop gardens and experience the hops in their freshest form up close. The project helps both breweries and hop growers and is a real highlight in the beer festival calendar year after year.
In 2022, Browar Pinta was the only brewery from Poland invited to this occasion. During their visit, they came across the Strata hop variety and fell in love with its flavor profile, which is reminiscent of melon, fruit bubble gum and strawberries. Strata is the protagonist and namesake of the new Hazy IPA, the hop varieties Columbus, Idaho 7 Cryo, Talus and HBC-586 appear in the accompanying roles and further enhance the juicy fruitiness. The exuberant notes of peach, strawberry and citrus fruit are rounded off by a crisp bitterness.
