Boergée

At first glance, you cannot tell the noble creation from BOERGÉE from a high-quality sparkling wine, especially when served in appropriate glasses. The bottles, which are sealed with a cork, are the same ones used for exquisite sparkling wine, and the drink itself looks very similar to the expensive delicacy: BOERGÉE's brews are presented in a strong gold tone and form a delicate hint of foam that is fed by pearls that tirelessly flow to the surface. But what exactly is it that BOERGÉE has created?

A speciality from Burgenland

The drink from the Austrian manufacturer is a marriage of beer and sparkling wine. For this new creation, however, the team did not simply mix the two components together. Instead, the makers came up with a process that can be used to create an elegant hybrid. The basis is a classic beer wort brewed from regional barley and enriched with select hops. The subsequent fermentation takes place with the help of champagne yeast. These special cultures not only give the beer its tangy carbonation, but also a fine, sparkling wine-like aroma. The grapes, which are essential for the sparkling wine, are added in the next step: two parts beer are mixed with one part grape juice and fermented together. The Méthode Traditionelle rounds off the brewing process. The brew is filled into bottles and matures for several months. After maturation is complete, a yeast sediment remains at the bottom of the bottle, which is gently removed by gradually turning and freezing the neck of the bottle. The end result is a crystal-clear product that combines the fresh effervescence of fine sparkling wines with the delicious balance of hops and malt in beer.

Excellent alone or with company

The manufacturer has clear recommendations for enjoying their product: The noble wine tastes best when it is brought to the right temperature beforehand. A well-chilled 6 to 7 °C is ideal. All the senses are pampered when the hybrid is poured into a champagne flute - a golden feast for the eyes and a citrus-fruity delight for the nose. The highlight of the tasting is of course the taste test. BOERGÉE's culinary profile is made up of soft malt spice, fruity hop notes, fresh citrus notes and a hint of tropical fruit. The sparkling carbonic acid and a delicate acidity skilfully round off the experience. The beer-sparkling wine hybrid is an atmospheric start to festive occasions and is an ideal complement to fish dishes, for example. The team recommends smoked char on crispy sourdough bread from the stone oven with butter, homemade creamed horseradish and thinly sliced radishes.
