Guinness & Co.

There are beers in this world that everyone knows. The wonderfully dark Guinness with the creamy, hazelnut-colored head is definitely one of them.

A man with vision

The Irish brewery Guinness & Co. goes back to the brewer Arthur Guinness. He was brewmaster at the St. James's Gate Brewery and the first in his family in a long line of brewers. His father had already been involved in the brewing trade, but Arthur and all the generations after him were exclusively brewers who worked at the Guinness brewery. On December 31, 1759, he sealed his fate and that of his descendants by signing a lease for the St. James's Gate Brewery. Normal contracts of this type run for one, five, or maybe ten years, but the paper that Arthur signed was a contract for the next 9,000 years. Nine thousand. Arthur's faith in his company and his vision for the future was set in stone and fueled by unfailing optimism and a great passion for the brewing trade. Throughout his life, the visionary was passionate about his brewery and ensured that his beer was on everyone's lips. Arthur Guinness was a true hero for his brewery and put the company on the right track.

Irish brewing par excellence

At one point, the Guinness & Co. brewery was even considered the largest brewery in the world. Today, it is no longer that, but the family helped the company to worldwide fame. The brewery's symbol is a harp. The Guinness clan borrowed this beautiful symbol from their homeland: the harp of the former King of Ireland Brian Boru from the 15th century is considered the model for the harps that can be found on Irish coins, ID cards and official documents. The Guinness family was attracted to this symbol and found that it wonderfully represented Irish culture, their family's heritage and the traditions of Ireland. Quality is still the top priority at Guinness today and it has always been that way. In the past, the brewery sent men out to undertake uncomfortable and dangerous journeys to check the quality of the beer after it had been exported. Only a Guinness that has been properly shipped, stored and served appropriately meets the high standards of the family brewery. Today, proper transportation is no longer as difficult as it used to be, but the brewery still maintains tight controls to ensure you get the best possible beer experience.

Convince yourself of the outstanding quality of good Guinness and taste a culinary piece of Ireland with the fine brewed products from the St. James's Gate Brewery!
