Beer is a passion that grips many. Hardly anyone can say no to a well-chilled blonde with a generous head and a fine aroma. For some, however, the love of beer goes beyond enjoyment. More and more people are venturing into brewing and implementing their beer ideas in their own four walls. Many a craft brewery has been created in this way - even though the brewers had often taken completely different career paths before founding their own label.
This was also the case with Josef Langwieser. Before his thirst for beer lured him to his later calling, the master carpenter from Siegenburg specialized in the manufacture of fine wooden furniture and kitchens. The skilled craftsman has been working with wood for 30 years and has a small team that helps him with his daily tasks. Since 2017, his men have been in even greater demand, as Josef has turned his love of beer into a side business and second source of income. Josef has always enjoyed drinking good beer, but one day when he heard a report on the range of his favorite drink on the radio, he became curious. He read up on the subject and decided to brew his own beer. Conveniently, Josef had been growing his own hops for a long time, which now served as the basis for his own beer. After the first attempts in his own kitchen, the carpenter was so enthusiastic that he let friends and relatives taste it. His beer was a hit and he had to think of a solution to meet the increasing demand.
Many young brewers look for established breweries at the start of their careers in order to brew using their brewing system. This allows the large breweries to fully utilize their capacities and give newcomers the chance to try their hand without the financial burden of owning their own brewery. This phenomenon is called cuckoo brewery and Josef Langwieser has also taken this path. He rents space from a brewery and brews beer in small batches using professional equipment. His range consists of hop-based creations that score points for their character and taste. The hops from his own cultivation give the beer a special touch. Although he has already received offers for his recipes, Josef still brews his beer himself or has it made by brewer friends. This is the only way he can maintain the high quality standards that he has set for himself.
