Summer, oh most glorious of all seasons! You give us all-day light, vitamin D, soothing warmth, trees and bushes lush with ripe fruit, a good mood, swimming pool and barbecue weather, spectacular summer thunderstorms, nights with fireflies and shooting stars, evenings around the campfire, excursions, vacations and the most wonderful summer beer.
The latter played less of a role back then, when you slid through August with the holiday pass in hand and hopped from one attraction to the next. Today, however, the times of six weeks of freedom in a row are over for most of us and you have to see where the summer joy is between work, appointments and obligations. After work at the lake or on the balcony with good friends and a cool, refreshing and tasty summer beer is a little piece of happiness and at least spreads the magic of summer holidays for a little while.
A fine example of the art of summer brewing is Summer from Josef Langwieser’s Edelbierschmiede. The light summer beer from Siegenburg brings a gentle 2.8% alcohol content into the glass and guarantees pure enjoyment with its fine balance of sparkling hops and soft malt. The initial taste is light as a feather and lets notes of light malt and tart grapefruit dance on the tongue. Hints of grassy hops, caramelized hazelnuts and an elegant bitterness complete the flavor profile — perfect for those hot July nights or the end of summer in early October.
