Traditionally, German breweries offer a range of festival beers. Every year, just in time for the arrival of colder days, Brauhaus Faust releases its Winter Fest beer. The strong Märzen is the ultimate consolation on rainy November days and helps to survive even the coldest of January days with its malty excellence.
Faust’s Winter Fest beer flows into the glass in a deep golden amber tone and forms a fluffy, slightly tinted head of foam. A potpourri of tempting scents rises from the foam to the nose: sweet malt meets buttery caramel, a touch of spicy yeast and a fresh fruitiness are added. When drunk, the winter beer is delicately spicy and full-bodied sweet. The unmistakable taste of freshly baked bread spreads on the tongue, accompanied by a delicious honey aroma. The hops add a down-to-earth tartness and also give the beer a touch of citrus freshness. Otherwise, the winter beer is more malty. A strong carbon dioxide gives the beer a wonderful effervescence and makes it creamy and gentle on the tongue. The finish is fruity and pleasantly dry.
In contrast to many festive beers of the Christmas season, the Winter Festbier from Faust is not an over-spiced punch, but a down-to-earth beer with character. Thanks to its soft sweetness and intense malt notes, it goes perfectly with meat and heavy desserts. We also think that this beer is a good companion for the next winter barbecue session!
