The most feared of all marine animals is the great white shark. Equipped with rows of sharp teeth, the monster glides dangerously calmly through the waves from the depths and attacks when you least expect it. Now the silent killer has had competition: the black shark is a Bavarian species that kills its opponents with infallible taste, intense aromas and a surprising amount of hops.
The Black Shark comes from the Camba Bavaria brewery and, unlike most of its conspecifics, is not an endangered species. Fortunately, because the huge Imperial Black IPA just tastes too good. Incidentally, this was also the opinion of the jurors of the World Beer Awards, who awarded the extraordinary India Pale Ale with silver in 2021.
Camba’s Black Shark is presented in pitch black mahogany in the glass and crowns itself with a considerable amount of creamy, tight-pored foam. A fruity scent rises from the hazelnut-colored splendor, reminiscent of rhubarb cake, red gooseberries and ripe peaches. The initial taste shows a completely different side: Strong roasted aromas caress the taste buds and provide notes of coffee, dark bread crust and dark chocolate for men. The hops Hercules, Chinook and Centennial contribute a grandiose bitterness and give the beer gentle notes of freshly harvested blackberries. The 8.5% alcohol content is subtly integrated into the taste.
