When the 13th of a month falls on Friday, it can’t mean anything positive for the superstitious among us. In popular parlance, days of this kind mean bad luck and when such an unlucky Friday occurs in October, the month of Halloween, we expect anything. The cat eats the front door key, a flower pot falls from the balcony onto the boss’s head, the car, the washing machine and the lawn mower give up at the same time, you step into a dog poop with your new white shoes and are checked on the bus exactly when If you left your wallet and ticket at home – on Friday the 13th, anything is possible!
A brewery where everything is possible is the Hertl brewery in Thüngfeld, Franconia. Master brewer David Hertl is known for saying that nothing is impossible and has made a name for himself in the industry with his unconventional beer creations that contain cucumbers and other crazy ingredients. His latest creation was released just in time for Halloween and brings us a wonderfully spicy pumpkin ale with a scary look.
The pumpkin beer is named after trainee Marvin and is entitled Marvin, the 13th. The brew was brewed with three different types of malt and the finest pumpkin, and a handful of warm spices round off the autumnal delicacy.
If everything is possible, something good can happen!
