The fine Gutenberg Bock from Kuehn Kunz Rosen is a real beer specialty in itself: Soft notes of full-bodied malt and wintry spices ensure a feeling of well-being for the soul, while the strong beating provides a wonderful warmth that spreads tingly throughout the body . However, the creative brewers have now decided to fully exploit the potential of their bock beer and to further refine it by barrel aging.
Fortunately, after the first variant was ripped out of the hands of the brewers like hot cakes, we were able to secure a few more copies. The second version is now available, but we’re still reveling in the sensual aroma of the first. The Gutenberg Bock was stored for six long months in aromatic former Calvados wooden barrels. During this time, the barrel’s own flavors enriched the profile of the bock with an intense depth and complex hints of oak, fine schnapps and sparkling green apples. The noble apple brandy harmonises wonderfully with the tart spiciness of the bock and also provides an exquisite vanilla aroma.
The beer specialty flows into the glass the color of liquid caramel and smells the same: soft toffee notes, baked apple aromas, warm Calvados hints, vanilla, wood and strong malt dominate the smell and taste.
