The emergency helper can take many different forms: it can be a band-aid if you have a blister halfway through the hike; a helping hand when you have to carry heavy shopping bags up to the fourth floor; a banana if you overdo it in sports; a kind word when everything is too much; a person who passes toilet paper under the cabin wall or someone who has packed a spare inner tube or repair kit for the bike tour.
The Trunk brewery from Bad Staffelstein also makes emergency helpers and has specialized in the kind that catches you after a long, stressful day and quenches an acute thirst for beer. Although their brews have certainly been saviors in times of need, their title does not refer to their supporting effect, but to the 14 saints, who are called the Holy Helpers in the Catholic Church. The Franconian brewery is located above a church that bears the name of these benefactors. The Holy Helpers are worshiped in the pilgrimage church of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, and the same applies in the Trunk’sche Wirtsstube.
The latest addition to the Nothelfer team is the Vierzehnheiligener Lager: The classic brings a fine balance of fruity notes, spicy hay and creamy caramel to the table and has a tasty 4.7% alcohol content.
