A cold-hopped wheat doppelbock? A really strong number from the Riedenburger brewery!
The Dolden Bock from the Riedenburger Brauhaus is a hopped wheat Doppelbock with full hop power and an intense taste. The naturally cloudy beer is brewed from aromatic cone hops and impresses with a range of hoppy and malty aromas.
The bock flows into the glass in a light chestnut brown and is beautifully cloudy. A creamy, white foam crowns the beer and exudes a strong scent of spicy yeast, ripe banana, wheat-typical clove, sweet caramel malt and ripe berries. A tempting mix! The initial taste reveals a medium-weight body with a loose, flaky consistency and a light mouthfeel. A soft malt aroma with notes of still warm bread crust, buttery caramel, clove and yeast caresses the palate before dominant fruit notes are added. Creamy, ripe banana, light citrus notes and subtle red berry tones dance on the tongue and complement the earthy malt note wonderfully. The heavy, ripe sweetness is complemented and balanced by an elegant bitterness. The finish is crisply bitter and sticky fruity.
Despite the amount of hops that have been added, the Riedenburger Dolden Bock has a perfect balance of hops and malt. Delicious!
