Whiskey has grown in popularity in recent years. More and more people are fascinated by the unique aroma of the noble drink and celebrate the fine drop with matching glasses in festive moments. There are whiskey tastings, trade fairs where manufacturers and experts meet to taste and talk shop, clubs and literature on the topic.
Why are we telling you this? Because the Rittmayer brewery from Hallerndorf is friends with a whiskey club and has dedicated a beer to this special friendship. The occasion for the special brew is the 30th anniversary of the Nuremberg whiskey club "The Most Venerable Order of the Highland Circle". Germany’s oldest whiskey club has dedicated itself to tasting a wide variety of whiskeys and is doing this with great dedication. The Highland Circle also travels to Scotland annually to visit distilleries in the home of whiskey. The honorable men and women even have their own tartan pattern, officially recognized by the Scottish Tartan Society. This milestone in the history of the club is now crowned by another: the club receives its own beer.
In honor of the Highland Circle, the Rittmayer brewery from Hallerndorf has come up with a beer that is strongly reminiscent of whiskey with its smoky character. The smoked stout is a malty specialty beer that whiskey drinkers will also enjoy.
