Franconia is a real beer paradise, which is not least due to the abundance of local raw materials. Cereals thrive wonderfully in its sun-drenched regions. A large part of the ripe grain is processed into the finest malt directly in a well-known Bamberg malt house and meets regional hops in the breweries in Franconia. A large hop-growing area is Hersbruck in the Nuremberg region. Various varieties of the green gold grow in the extensive hop gardens, offering brewers a luxurious range of aromas and taste nuances. The Simon brewery from Lauf is practically in the vicinity of this hop region and can draw on plenty. For their fine light beer, they have married regional barley with good hops from Hersbruck and combined them into a typical Franconian lager.
The brew is presented in a delicately cloudy shade of gold in the glass and rounds off its perfect look with a crown of fine-pored foam. A malty scent with mild hints of caramel meets freshly mown grass on the nose. The initial taste reveals a subtly balanced body with mild malt and fresh hops: robust grain and toffee with hints of citrus freshness, freshly mown grass and hoppy bitterness. A dry, earthy finish crowns the beer enjoyment.
The Helle from Simon is a tasty beer that tastes wonderful with grilled food.
