We like the dark season best when it is accompanied by bitter cold, snow and ice-blue skies with sunshine. We enjoy the winter wonderland outside and look forward to the cozy atmosphere at home after a few hours in the bitterly cold air. We light candles and the fireplace, snuggle up in thick blankets, eat cookies or gingerbread and enjoy the cozy warmth. We spend the winter evenings playing cards, eating hearty food and watching classic films from times long past. A cup of tea or mulled wine goes perfectly with it, but we also like to drink one of the bock beers that the Franconian breweries brew especially for the dark half of the year.
One of these examples is the dark Bock from Wagner. The Merkendorfer Brewery serves its strong beer every year from mid-November and prepares us for dark nights and sub-zero temperatures with its 7.5% strong delicacy.
The noble bock beer flows into the glass in a shimmering ruby-red brown tone and is crowned with a fleeting veil of nut-brown foam. A scent of oven-fresh bread, roasted malt, chocolate and orange zest fills the room. The initial taste is full-bodied and thrills with a robust character. Dark grain ensnares the palate and combines with delicately melting chocolate, freshly brewed espresso, nuts and honey to create an irresistible mixture. Complex, round, fine!
