Beer liqueur is a high-proof specialty that was invented out of an emergency. Even if beer is delicious and there is always someone to save the last bottles from spoiling, sometimes you cannot avoid that one or the other copy will expire. In order to save valuable beer from the can, resourceful brewers (or housewives?) Have come up with the beer liqueur. To make a liqueur out of a beer, you add a lot of sugar and spices to the good drink, cook it for a while and in the last step add a suitable schnapps.
The question, however, is: Why should we do it ourselves when seasoned brewers stand at the stove for us and share their wonderful liqueur with us?
The Munich Brew Mafia, for example, has a tasty liqueur made from the finest bock beer in its range. The brewers have saved a few bottles of their powerful anniversator and transformed it with brandy, sugar and exotic vanilla into an even finer drop. The culinary delight contains a warming 15.0% alcohol and is wonderfully suitable as an aperitif before a chic dinner or as a crowning glory to a busy day.
