Festbier is a living part of German beer history that has existed for centuries and is still practiced today. There were and are a few occasions in the calendar when traditional breweries brew special brews. In the past, these included Lent, church ceremonies, the beginning of winter, Christmas, the beginning of spring and Dancing into May, but also internal brewery occasions such as anniversaries, birthdays or weddings. Today, festival beer is no longer brewed quite as regularly and often, but many traditional breweries have at least one special brew in their range that is brewed on a seasonal basis and has a little more kick (and often more revolutions) than the brew in the core range.
Whether you can call the Blech.Brut craft brewery traditional is another question, but at least the company comes from the world-famous beer town of Bamberg. This place brings together the experience of more than a thousand years of brewing and you can feel the long tradition on every corner. Blech.Brut has a more modern range, but still honors its roots with one or two classics.
Your festival beer is one of these, even if it has been given a contemporary touch using dry hopping. The modernized traditional beer is refined with the hop varieties Cascade, Tettnanger, Perle and Monroe and brings a bouquet of delicately melting caramel, grassy hints, tropical fruit and mild bitterness as well as a moderate 5.6% alcohol content to the table.
