Edelweiss is a plant that prefers to grow in alpine areas. The velvety, creamy-white flowers can be found at dizzying heights between rocks and mountain meadows throughout the European mountains and the Balkans. Some species even thrive in Asia. The plant has long been a popular souvenir for mountaineers and climbers, but today it is under strict protection due to its declining numbers. The flower is a popular logo and is used as a symbol for various things. It adorns alpine club badges, coats of arms, military uniforms, mountain rescue service logos and coins. In Austria, the flower has a special meaning because Emperor Franz Josef I and his Sissi had a fondness for them.
We don’t have a preference for edelweiss, but rather for the edelweiss from Schinner. The classic wheat beer is made according to a traditional recipe and, in addition to the finest wheat and barley malt and aromatic hops from Franconian cultivation, contains a noble pure yeast that gives the beer its typical taste. The brew brings 4.9% alcohol content to the table and flows into the glass in a richly cloudy amber gold.
