The Mai Tai is one of the most popular cocktails of all. Over the past 100 years, many bartenders have claimed to have invented the drink and it is still not clear who was responsible for the stroke of genius. What is certain, however, is that the drink is made from rum, orange liqueur, lime juice and almond syrup and is quite delicious when served with a few ice cubes.
The Hawaiian brewery Kona has dedicated a beer to the legendary cocktail. The taste is based on the ingredients of Mai Tai. Mai Time is brewed with limes, oranges and pineapples and inspires with fresh fruitiness, harmonious acidity and a great balance of hops and malt.
The beery cocktail flows into the glass in clouded orange-gold and forms a fleeting veil of white foam. The beer smells tempting of exotic fruits, tangy lime and fresh hops. The initial taste follows the olfactory first impression and floods the mouth with a juicy wave of fresh and sweet fruit. Ripe tropical fruits pamper the tongue, the notes of ripe pineapple, sun-kissed orange and sour lime particularly stand out. The fruity hops are accompanied by a touch of malt, which adds notes of light grain and roasted wheat to the play of aromas. Spicy yeast and a crunchy bitterness complete the aroma profile.
