In addition to their Ipanema Double IPA, which is reminiscent of sun, beach and vacation, the southern Californian brewery Novo Brazil also offers a second variant: Ipanema Grapefruit combines the expansive tropical fruit wave of the conventional Ipanema with the tart acidity and fruity freshness of grapefruit.
The double India Pale Ale brings an impressive 8.3% alcohol content to the table and is flavored with the American hop varieties Mosaic, Citra and Centennial. The green gold gives the beer its exuberant fruit character and crisp bitterness.
Ipanema Grapefruit flows into the glass in a warm honey tone and shimmers copper-red when the light hits it. An airy layer of white foam crowns the golden beer and exudes the unmistakable scent of a freshly cut pink grapefruit. A hint of tropical fruit joins in and makes you thirsty at the first sip. The initial taste is like a tidal wave of freshly squeezed citrus fruits: juicy notes of grapefruit, lime and lemon flood the palate. Pineapple, mango, papaya and peach support the fruity impression, while a decent bitterness gives the aromas structure and contrast. This component consists of the natural bitterness of the grapefruit and the bitterness of the hops and is harmoniously integrated into the taste profile.
Thirst? We recommend this juicy IPA with the refreshment factor and the inviting fruitiness of an ice-cold fruit spritzer!
