A luminary in IPA heaven!
The Punk IPA is considered a true India Pale Ale classic in the craft beer scene. The reason for this lies in the lush, pronounced fruit note, which does not only become apparent during the taste test. The Scots have truly masterfully brought out the best of the six hop varieties Chinook, Amarillo, Simcoe, Cascade, Athanum and Nelson Sauvin and created a beer that couldn't be fruitier.
As soon as you pour the amber-colored Punk IPA, the seductive scent of sun-ripened stone fruits ensnares your nose. There, apricot and mango meet a number of other fruits that resemble a tropical cocktail. The connoisseur takes lychee, pineapple and slightly tart grapefruit from the aromatic play. The taste of the IPA from BrewDog impresses with its tangy fruitiness, which initially washes over the palate. Little by little, the tropical fruit-like note mixes with a wonderful hop bitterness, which continues to gain momentum until the aftertaste. The tart character slowly replaces the sweet fruitiness of the initial taste as the drink progresses, but does not prevent small fruit peaks from repeatedly fighting their way to the surface. Rarely is an IPA so cleverly balanced and varied!
It may be precisely this balance that explains the high popularity of the Scottish export hit. BrewDogs Punk IPA impresses both on first contact and on repeat offenses.
