In order to properly celebrate the opening of their new brewery location, the brewers at Brewdog didn't miss the opportunity to brew three celebratory beers. The visitors to the festival and the fans of the brewery were able to vote among these three prototypes and chose Kiez Keule as the winner.
Kiez Keule is a dry-hopped Dortmund export with 5.8% alcohol content and a tradition that goes back a long way. Originally the beer was - who would have thought - brewed for export. In order to be able to offer Dortmund beer fans a fresh, good product even far from Dortmund's city limits, the local brewers have decided to give their beer an extra portion of alcohol. The result was a beer that was not only higher in alcohol content but also longer lasting and more flavorful. In fact, it was so delicious that it was soon brewed not only for export purposes but also for sale in the city.
Kiez Keule flows into the glass in a clear, sunny yellow gold tone and shines in all facets of amber when the light hits it. A generous amount of white foam crowns the beer, which exudes an enticing scent of tangy citrus fruits, exotic fruit and steamy coniferous forest. A touch of light malt completes the aromatics and makes you want to take your first sip. This reveals a clean beer with a velvety, soft mouthfeel and a fine balance of hops and malt.
