Ginger Beard is a fearsome goblin who stares down from the label of the beer of the same name wearing a Viking headdress and eye patch. With a fiery gaze and heavily armed, he is prepared for battle. He doesn't look like someone you'd want to mess with. Its beer counterpart is in no way inferior to the warrior: a generous portion of ginger turns the beer into a fiery test of courage.
Ginger Beard from Wychwood appears in a clear amber tone in the glass and forms a medium-pored foam head that evaporates quite quickly. A tangy, fresh citrus scent rises from the white foam, which is supported by a sweet malt base. Spicy caramel meets the spiciness of ginger in the nose, the dark sweetness of dried red fruits underlines the aromatic potpourri. When drunk, the Rotbart presents itself as lemony and fresh. Lime, lemon and juicy orange pamper the palate with fruity freshness, the ginger is added as you drink and gives the beer a wonderful spiciness. Honey, caramel and malt sugar balance the spiciness with a decent amount of sweetness. The ginger clearly dominates in the bitter-spicy finish.
