Although his Bevog brewery is located in Austria, Vasja Golar actually comes from neighboring Slovenia. This is not unusual in the brewing industry: many brewers travel in search of new experiences, styles and raw materials and work in breweries all over the world. In Vasja's case, however, things went a little differently.
After learning to brew, first on his own and then in courses at the Brewery Research and Training Institute in Berlin, he decided to open his own brewery. At least that was the plan, because after securing his father's financial support, he encountered unexpected hurdles. These hurdles were of a bureaucratic nature and were put in his way by the Slovenian trade inspectorate. After countless correspondence and long waiting times, Vasja gave up. However, he didn't hang up the mash paddle before he could even swing it, but simply crossed the border with everything he had. The Mur river separates Austria and Slovenia and the towns of Bad Radkersburg and Gorna Radgona from each other. So he didn't have to go out into the world, just cross the bridge.
Thanks to this stroke of genius, we can now enjoy the finest beers from Bevog and matching glasses are also available!
