Breweries are increasingly bringing unconventional collaboration partners on board. For example, the Lehe team consulted the Buffalo Trace Distillery for their latest creation. The manufacturers of the finest bourbon whiskeys have accumulated an inexhaustible wealth of experience and a large number of highly aromatic wooden casks over the course of 200 years. The distillers needed both for the collaboration with the brewery: together with the brewers from Lehe, they developed a powerful imperial stout, which was filled into their casks after the brewing process to mature.
The joint brew is called Cantognake Buffalo Trace BA and brings an incredible 21.0% alcohol content to the glass. The firewater presents itself in opaque midnight black and is crowned with a fleeting hint of hazelnut-brown foam. As if you had fallen into a bourbon barrel — This is how the brewery describes the first olfactory impression. Exotic vanilla, warm notes of alcohol, toasted nuts, oak and chocolate-dipped raisins are elements found in both the scent and taste. The initial taste is dominated by spicy liquorice, gradually the other components build up and settle on the tongue with a soft, creamy sweetness.
In order to be able to enjoy the entire spectrum, you should drink this specialty a little warmer than a pils or cellar beer.
