The World Beer Awards are a renowned competition in the beer scene that honors the best beers in the world in various categories every year. An expert jury tests its way through countless beers and evaluates the taste, quality and innovation of the creations submitted according to strict criteria. The showdown between the most successful and skilful brewers on earth gives beer fans information about trends, new breweries, unusual beers and grandiose classics.
The light lager from the Ayinger private brewery belongs to the latter category and has already convinced the judges several times. The bottom-fermented full beer was voted the best lager in Germany in 2015 and was able to build on this resounding success in 2019 with a silver medal.
Ayingers Trohäenjäger brings 4.9% alcohol content to the table and presents itself in a crystal-clear light gold in the glass. A symphony of oven-fresh bread, sun-dried straw, lightly roasted malt, herbs and floral hops fills the air from the picture-book head of foam in radiant white. The taste test shows that the first impression did not promise too much: Carried by a fine carbonic acid, notes of freshly mown grass, creamy honey, crusty bread crust, cereals and meadow herbs tickle the palate. Hints of delicate citrus fruits underline the play of aromas, while a bitterness that increases towards the finish complements the sweetness of the malt.
The Helles Lager is a well-rounded affair.
