Hallertauer Tradition is a hop variety that was developed by experts at the Hüll Hop Research Center. The plant was bred with the sometimes difficult growing conditions in Germany in mind and thrives even when rain sweeps across the country in abundance or fails to fall at all. The aroma profile of the hops includes both sweet fruit elements and components of mown grass.
The Franconian brewery Göller from Zeil am Main makes use of the advantages of this variety and makes it the main character in its Göller Original. The unpasteurized beer is based on the classic Pilsner and has a pale gold tone. A stately crown sits on the crystal-clear body, which exudes a fine scent of floral hops, freshly grated citrus peel and honey. The first sip reveals a medium-heavy body with a pleasantly dry character. The taste is made up of gently roasted malt, creamy forest honey, citrus-fresh hops, summer flower meadow and light-footed tartness. For a Pilsner, Göller’s Original has a very subtle, restrained bitterness that nestles up to the soft aromas and contributes to the drinkability.
The Göller brewery has created a subtly balanced, well-rounded beer that quenches your thirst for beer wonderfully with its balance, pleasant 4.9% alcohol content and tame 29 bitter units.
