In David Hertl’s family idyll, one thing cannot be missing: grandma!
After the creative master brewer David Hertl from Schlüsselfeld dedicated a beer to each member of his family, of course a beer had to be found for Grandma Edeltraut. The brewer, who always relies on Papa’s wisdom , runs a family business like it is in the book. Everyone is involved and helps wherever they can. As a small reward, grandfather’s darling David honored his loved ones with suitable beers. Now Mutti’s Sonnenschein has also dedicated herself to his grandmother and created a beer for her that fits her strong character: Grandma’s bed treat is an aroma-intensive amberbock with a powerful 6.5% alcohol content and a whole lot of taste.
The beer equivalent to Grandma Edeltraut flows into the glass in dark golden amber and shimmers splendidly in all facets of copper red when the light falls. A slightly tinted crown of dense, thick foam crowns the beer and gives off a scent that is hard to resist. In the nose, notes of freshly toasted bread meet caramel-sweet malt, spicy blossom honey, ripe forest berries and a hoppy hint of citrus. The initial taste reveals a powerful body with subtly balanced aromas of soft malt, creamy toffee, tart orange jam and roasted brioche. Towards the end, the buck becomes a bit bitter and drier and the hops show off with notes of herbs and clean grass.
We like to hop into bed with this bed treat on the pillow!
