The winter wheat from the Huppendorfer Brewery Grasser appears every year on time for Drei König in January. Thanks to its full-bodied character and a whopping 5.5% alcohol content, the strong beer is wonderfully suitable for the first event in the beer calendar: the beer year starts year after year with the traditional strong drink, especially in Franconia. Winter wheat from Grasser is an excellent source of strength. The wheat beer is brewed with the brewery’s own yeast strain, which is top-fermented and gives the beer its unmistakable yeast flavor. The yeast harmonizes wonderfully with the caramel malt, which conjures up a creamy toffee note in the beer. Together with the typical banana note, this results in a festival of a wheat.
The Huppendorfer winter wheat flows into the glass in red gold amber and is crowned by a good amount of dense, white foam. The scent is sweet, subtly sour and wonderfully spicy: strong banana meets delicate caramel, soft malt and a hint of fresh hops. The initial taste reveals an aroma-intensive beer with a velvety-soft mouthfeel and pleasant carbon dioxide. The palette of flavors extends from creamy notes of banana and spicy yeast to creamy caramel, strong cloves and roasted malt to herbaceous hops and a hint of citrus. Round and tasty!
