The name SHIPA is an acronym that is composed of the first letters of the name of this and other beer creations: The SHIPA series from the creative brewery Kehrwieder consists of a number of fine single hop India Pale Ales. Each of these beers presents a special, particularly aromatic hop variety and elicits every little taste note from it. Hopheads can definitely taste the hops variant, everyone else simply enjoys a great IPA. In the meantime there have been more than 25 different SHIPA editions and some of them were so well received that they were included in the brewery’s permanent repertoire.
El Dorado is not yet one of them, but we advocate that this flavor-intensive hop variety be included in the core range. Like all beers in the series, SHIPA El Dorado is brewed with Viennese malt and has a hefty 7.5% alcohol content. The American aroma hops bring a tropical fruitiness into play and balance the fruity sweetness with a rich bitterness. A classic American India Pale Ale!
SHIPA El Dorado flows into the glass in a warm copper tone and crowns itself with a hand’s breadth of white, airy foam. Tropical fruits dominate both the scent and the initial taste. In the body, pointed notes of green hops, spicy black tea and tangy citrus fruits join the abundance of tropical fruits. A crisp bitterness rounds off the play of aromas.
