Espiga is the Spanish word for ear of corn and the name of a brewery that was born from a passion project. The two former biologists Teresa and Arnau felt called to create something quite extraordinary: a beer that has soul. They wanted to create a beer that, like a person with personality, character, rough edges, radiates liveliness and a clear statement. Anyone who has ever tasted Espiga's beers knows how well they succeeded.
The founders of Espiga place particular emphasis on the high quality of their raw materials and the careful processing of these. This is the only way to create a product that meets their own standards. They are clearly against the process of pasteurization - too much of the original vitality would be lost in the process. Espiga places great value on transparent production and explains the brewing process to interested beer lovers on their website using understandable graphics. Theresa and Arnau's passion is in every detail and is of course also evident in the quality of their beer. Their hard work and commitment paid off in 2014 when they received the silver medal at the Global Craft Beer Awards for their beer Espiga, a Black IPA.
What was initially only available to beer lovers in Spain can now be enjoyed here too: In addition to the award-winning Espiga, there are other special beers such as the gluten-free Blonde Ale , which will not only please allergy sufferers. It seduces with a surprisingly broad range of fruity aromas, ranging from tropical citrus notes to white grapes and a delicate watermelon taste. But the other beers from Espiga, such as the Espiga Black Cel Ona or the Woody Cherry , which was created in cooperation with the Russian brewery On the Bones, are also impressive. They are characterized by their fine aromas and the elegant coordination of the individual flavors.
For your next siesta, we recommend a beer from Espiga!
