The name of the cellar beer is derived from two different circumstances: on the one hand, the cellar beer matures in the brewery’s storage cellar after the brewing process is complete, on the other hand, the specialty is preferably served in the beer cellars of Franconia.
The example from the Klosterbräu house wanders underground for a few weeks after the brewing process is complete. The long-established brewery is the oldest still existing brewery in Bamberg and houses the oldest storage cellar in the city. In these venerable halls, your lager matures to its full glory before it is served in the brewery’s dining room, on the terrace or in the beer garden. The beer is a natural, unfiltered brew according to old tradition and flows into the glass in a delicately cloudy copper red. The stately crown of fine-pored foam exudes an enticing scent of buttery caramel and roasted nuts. The initial taste reveals a subtly composed body that brings full-bodied malt, nut aromas and fruity notes to the tongue. The hops contribute an elegant bitterness that skillfully balances the variety of malt.
The strong cellar beer from the Klosterbräu has already been on the podium several times in the course of international competitions and ensured that the brewery also became known outside of Franconia. With this brew that has been handed down from the olden days, the team proves that craftsmanship, tradition and taste are simply timeless.
