The Oberbräu in Holzkirchen looks back on a history spanning over 400 years. After the brewery was granted the right to brew at the beginning of the 17th century, the Holzkirchen brewery brewed beer almost continuously. In 2007, the company got into dire straits and was threatened with closure. Fortunately, the König Ludwig Schloßbrauerei Kaltenberg stepped in as a golden savior and took over the company. The Bavarian-Bavarian alliance not only secured all jobs and the continued existence of the Oberbräu, but also brought advantages for the buyer: the Schloßbrauerei Kaltenberg is expanding its production to include another location, is now also selling its range in the Alpine foothills and is incorporating a brand that fits wonderfully with its own concept.
Thanks to this bold step, we can now offer you the popular pale ale from Oberbräu. This traditional brew has been part of the brewery’s repertoire from the very beginning and is brewed in the style of a classic Bavarian pale ale. The brew appears in a shiny gold tone in the glass and is crowned with a snow-white cap of coarse-pored foam. A mild scent of sun-ripened straw, ears of corn and freshly mown grass fills the air and entices you to take a sip. This reveals an uncomplicated pale ale that scores with a simple balance of malt, caramel, bread, citrus notes and grassy notes. Delicious!
